Algeria Ditches UAE Ties Amid Regional Disputes
Algeria cut diplomatic ties with the UAE, accusing Abu Dhabi of provocative acts after failed efforts to mend relations; Algeria also closed its airspace to UAE-registered aircraft with limited exemptions, and had moved to cancel a 2013 air-services agreement. The rift stems from disputes over Israel normalization, Western Sahara, and UAE influence in North Africa and the Sahel, intensified by comments from President Tebboune and broader regional tensions (Somalia, Sudan) in the Gulf and Maghreb.
