KPop Demon Hunters Win Oscar for Golden as Speech Is Cut Off
“Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters won Best Original Song at the 98th Oscars, making history as the first K-pop track to win and as a seven-writer collaboration that will share a single statuette under Academy rules; EJAE spoke on behalf of the writers, but co-writer Yu-Han Lee’s thanks were interrupted when the music played and the broadcast cut to a commercial. The song’s seven credited writers include six South Koreans; the film also won Best Animated Feature, adding to a slate of records the track set or approached in Oscar history.
