
Leeds-born Haaland: England’s option that never was
Erling Haaland was born in Leeds while his father Alfie played for Leeds United and spent part of his early years in England before the family returned to Norway; though eligible for England, he grew up in Norway and opted to represent Norway, with England never seriously pursuing him, and he has since become a Norwegian World Cup star who helped knock England out in 2026—while he still references his English roots.
