New Zealand Bans Live Animal Exports by Sea.
New Zealand has officially ended its live animal exports by sea, citing animal welfare concerns, as the last live export ship departed from the country. The decision to ban live exports by sea was supported by the National Animal Welfare Advisory Committee. The phase-out allowed impacted farmers time to adjust their supply chains and move to different business models. New Zealand will instead work with trading partners to improve the productivity and efficiency of their livestock production systems.
