"Promising Treatment: GLP-1 Agonists Aid Type 2 Diabetics with Liver Cirrhosis"

A new observational study suggests that the use of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) in adults with type 2 diabetes and compensated liver cirrhosis can lower the risk of death, cardiovascular disease, decompensated cirrhosis, and liver failure. The study found that GLP-1 RA users had significantly lower risks for mortality, cardiovascular events, decompensated cirrhosis, hepatic encephalopathy, and liver failure compared to nonusers. The researchers suggest that GLP-1 RAs may be a treatment option for diabetes patients with liver cirrhosis, but further studies are needed to confirm these results and explore the mechanisms involved.
