Abbey Bike Tools Launches $65 Post Mount Facing Tool to Democratize Brake Precision
Abbey Bike Tools has released a new post mount facing tool priced at $65, designed to make precise brake mount alignment accessible to home mechanics and shops. Unlike expensive, complex axle-mounted tools, this device uses the threaded hole of the post mount as a guide to ensure the surface is perpendicular to the threads. The tool, which can be driven by a drill or a 13mm wrench, sold out immediately upon release at the MADE Show. Abbey founder Jason Quade argues that facing to the threads yields reliable results because manufacturing fixtures often align threads rather than axles. The tool is compatible with aluminum, magnesium, steel, stainless steel, and titanium, with specific RPM limits provided for each material. A second new tool, a $15 presta valve core tool, was also introduced. The next batch of facing tools is expected in late October 2026.
