Ethiopian twins separated after 24-hour surgery in St. Louis
SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis successfully separated two-year-old Ethiopian twin sisters Hiyab and Wuhbto, who were born conjoined at the head, in a 24-hour procedure in February 2026. The girls are now recovering in Missouri, with Wuhbto having completed skull repair and Hiyab preparing for similar surgery. The case highlights a global medical partnership and the rarity of craniopagus separation.
