Tambov blaze after Ukrainian drone strike hits Russian defense plant

Fires erupted at Russia’s JSC Progress Plant in Michurinsk, Tambov Oblast, after an overnight Ukrainian drone attack. The plant, which makes high-tech aviation and missile-control systems and related equipment, was shown in eyewitness footage with air defenses active. Local authorities had not commented at publication. Kyiv Independent notes this is at least the fourth reported strike on the plant since 2024, as Ukraine targets Russian military assets with domestically produced weapons amid recent Russia strikes on Ukraine.
