Five rescued, two missing as Laos cave rescue fights through dangerous passages
Five miners have been rescued from a flooded Laos cave after 10 days inside, with two still missing as international divers push through narrow, water-filled tunnels. Rescuers drained floodwater and navigated unstable clay and mud walls to reach a rocky ledge where four men were found; the rescued were brought out on stretchers, wrapped in foil blankets and given oxygen. Thai and other international teams are continuing to search deeper, including a 25‑metre‑long narrow tunnel, where the missing two are believed to be, after the men entered the cave to look for minerals such as gold ore before flash floods blocked the exit.
