Father Leaves 7-Year-Old Alone 8,200 Feet Up Mount Fuji During Hike
Police reprimanded a father who left his seven-year-old son alone for several hours at a hut about 8,200 feet up Mount Fuji while the family continued hiking. A worker found the tired child, who had snacks but no money, and the father and his other son returned about five hours later to officers. The boy was unharmed and handed back to his father; authorities warned he could face criminal liability, though the father expressed remorse. The incident comes as Mount Fuji has recently implemented entry rules amid recent fatalities on the mountain.
