Baltic flare near-miss sparks Russia-Denmark tensions
Russia warned Denmark after a Russian frigate fired two flares that narrowly missed a Danish Fennec helicopter photographing the ship in international waters off Denmark. Moscow blamed Danish maneuvers for the near-miss, while Copenhagen said the flare passed within metres and said it would not invoke NATO Article 5. Danish PM Frederiksen called the incident serious but part of a pattern of intensified hybrid warfare in Europe, highlighting broader concerns about Russian actions near Baltic air and sea routes.
