Backyard Dig in Denmark Yields Record Viking Silver Hoard
A homeowner in northern Denmark discovered the country's largest Viking Age silver hoard while preparing a patio. The 10th-century find, weighing over 18 kilograms, contains roughly 700 objects including ingots, coins, and jewelry. It eclipses the previous record by nearly three times and suggests Himmerland was a major center of wealth during the Viking era.
