Thunderbirds stun Bruins in OT to set Calder Cup upset record
Springfield Thunderbirds pulled off the Calder Cup Playoffs’ biggest upset by standings gap, beating the Providence Bruins 1-0 in overtime to sweep the series in four games. Dillon Dube scored the OT winner and Georgi Romanov made 37 saves for the shutout as Springfield, a 72-point team, upset the 110-point Bruins and advance to the Atlantic Division Finals against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton starting May 12.
