"Apple Declares Last MacBook Pro with CD Drive Obsolete"

Apple has added the Mid 2012 model of the 13-inch MacBook Pro, the last Mac with a built-in CD/DVD drive, to its obsolete products list, marking it as "technologically obsolete" after more than seven years since its last distribution. The company continues to sell an external SuperDrive for customers who need a CD/DVD drive, but a USB-C adapter is required to use it with modern MacBooks. On the software side, Apple dropped support for this model with macOS Big Sur in 2020. Additionally, Apple has big plans for iOS 18, which is expected to be a significant software update for the iPhone.

"Apple's WWDC 2023: New MacBook Air and Obsolete Products List Update"

Apple will add the Thunderbolt Display and the first-generation iPad Air to its obsolete products list on May 31, meaning they will no longer be eligible for repairs or other hardware service at Apple Stores or Apple Authorized Service Providers. The Thunderbolt Display was introduced in 2011 and was priced at $999 in the U.S. The original iPad Air launched in 2013 and was equipped with a 9.7-inch display and the A7 chip.
