Netflix's sports drama Perfect, which would have starred Millie Bobby Brown as Olympic gymnast Kerri Strug, is not moving forward after Brown exited over creative differences. The project, once set to begin production this summer with Gia Coppola replaced by Cate Shortland, has been scrapped. Netflix remains involved with Brown on other projects in development.
Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas has confirmed that she has resumed training and is eyeing the Paris Games. Douglas, who became the first Black woman to win the Olympic all-around title in 2012, expressed her desire to find joy in the sport again. Her announcement means that the last three Olympic champions, including Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee, are all back in training for the Paris Games. Douglas hasn't competed since the Rio Olympics in 2016, but rumors of her return began circulating last year.
Olympic gymnastics champion Sunisa Lee has revealed that a kidney issue cut short her college career, but she still has her sights set on the Paris Games next year. Lee missed the end of the regular season, the Southeastern Conference championships and the NCAA regional because of what Auburn described as a “non-gymnastics health issue.” She became the first reigning Olympic champion to compete at the NCAA level, taking advantage of new name, image and likeness rules that allow college athletes to make money while competing.
