DLSS 5 leaks reveal AI-driven visuals with a steep frame-rate price
Modders are testing Nvidia's controversial DLSS 5 AI-powered neural rendering via a leaked DLL found in NBA 2K27 files and demonstrations in Control. The DLL hints at neural rendering (NR) and a large set of FP8 training parameters (likely 148 million) in an unfinished build. Early results show significant performance penalties: around 4K on an RTX 5070 Ti dropping from 71 fps to 35 fps, and an RTX 5090 dropping from 91 to 50 fps, with smaller hits at lower resolutions. Nvidia says developers will control DLSS 5, but critics worry the AI-driven rendering could alter visuals beyond the original artistic intent.
