Marathon is adding a limited-time Duos queue on the Perimeter map to test two-player play at scale for two weeks. There will be no matchmaking; players must join with pre-made duos and will be matched only against other duos. Bungie calls the feature experimental and says changes may follow, with the possibility of making it permanent if the test goes well. Cryo, the endgame map, is slated to arrive later this week.
Marathon (2025) players have cracked a set of terminals on Perimeter and a Cryoarchives website puzzle to reveal a teaser for Cryo Archive, the next map. By triggering an audio log sequence and progressing three loading bars on the site’s feeds, players uncovered a hint of how to unlock Cryo Archive, with six feeds looping “re-establish connection.” The current plan suggests similar steps on the other maps, Dire Marsh and Outpost, before Cryo Archive becomes playable. The map is billed as the hardest yet, amid ongoing PvE and PvP activity, and Eurogamer notes Marathon’s fast, fierce combat pace in preview coverage.
