
Photoelectrochemical Devices Vital for Human Survival on Moon and Mars
To sustain human life on the Moon or Mars, photoelectrochemical devices could be used to produce oxygen and recycle carbon dioxide. This approach would be more efficient and less prone to breakdowns than the current photovoltaic-based electrolysis process used on the International Space Station. While research is ongoing about the long-term efficiency and power density of PEC devices, the ability to use In-Situ Resource Utilization and work in microgravity conditions seem to be less of a problem.
