SEC to honor court orders allowing pro players on rosters amid litigation
The SEC says it will comply with court orders that grant eligibility to players who previously declared for pro leagues or signed pro contracts, even though the conference is named as a defendant in the case. The orders could provide cover for rostering plaintiffs without forcing rostering all players, while penalties for violating the SEC pro-sports rule remain steep (coach suspensions of up to 50% and a budget-based fine). It’s unclear how this will interact with ongoing litigation or enforcement, but commissioner Greg Sankey is said to have authority to enforce the policy after meetings among league leaders.
