PS Portal Elevates Cloud Streaming With 1080p High Quality Mode
Sony’s PS Portal gains a meaningful upgrade with a new 1080p High Quality mode that boosts streaming bitrate from 15 Mbps to 25 Mbps, delivering noticeably sharper image quality, especially for Remote Play. Cloud streaming has grown quickly since PS Plus Premium expanded access in late 2025, with January 2026 cloud users up 162% year over year and more than half of Portal users on Premium. The improvement is well-received, though questions remain about continued enhancements and whether Sony will push native handheld capabilities alongside cloud streaming.
