Practical Magic 2 Aims for $58M-$63M Global Opening
Warner Bros.’ Practical Magic 2 is tracking for a global start of about $58M-$63M, with roughly $40M domestic and $18M-$23M overseas across 77 territories (excluding China). The PG-13 sequel stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, is directed by Stephanie Bier, and is based on Alice Hoffman's The Book of Magic, following a multi-gen witch family as they attempt to break a spell. The first film grossed about $94.4M worldwide on a $75M budget; critics are mixed (about 34% on Rotten Tomatoes for the sequel), but WB hopes strong pre-sales and fan interest will give it staying power even if it doesn’t reach Devil Wears Prada 2-scale success.
