OpenAI’s former chief product officer Kevin Weil is leaving as the company folds the OpenAI for Science initiative into other teams and sunsets Prism, intending to stitch its capabilities into the Codex desktop app. The move is part of a broader reorganization to streamline products around Codex, enterprise offerings, and a potential IPO, with additional departures and leadership reshuffles ongoing.
MIT experts have developed two machine learning models, known as the "PRISM" neural network, that can detect pancreatic cancer at a higher threshold than current diagnostic standards. These models were created using five million patient health records and are designed to specifically detect pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), the most prevalent form of pancreatic cancer. The AI works by analyzing patient demographics, previous diagnoses, current and previous medications in care plans, and lab results to predict the probability of cancer. While the technology is currently limited to MIT labs and select patients in the US, the development of AI models for early cancer detection has the potential to significantly improve patient outcomes and reduce the workload of medical professionals.
Isaac Newton's experiment with prisms in 1666 revolutionized our understanding of light, revealing that the colors of the rainbow are inherent in white light itself and that prisms simply separate them out through refraction. Newton's findings, published in his book Opticks in 1704, explained the nature of light, the formation of rainbows, and the defects of lenses. Despite initial criticism, his experiments have stood the test of time and continue to illuminate the unknown.
Halo Infinite's Season 5 introduces two new maps, Forbidden and Prism. Forbidden is a symmetrical arena map with ancient stone ruins and lush green areas, while Prism is an asymmetrical map set in a cave system filled with blamite crystals. Both maps offer unique features and aesthetics, with Forbidden providing ample routes for Capture the Flag matches and long sightlines for sniping, and Prism featuring a battle in the skybox between the Banished and the Arbiter's Swords of Sanghelios. The maps also have their own Infection variants and offer opportunities for exploration and storytelling.
