At Fort Irwin's Project Convergence Capstone, roughly 10,000 soldiers simulated a city battle in Razish, using drones for reconnaissance and an AI-enabled battlefield network (NGC2) to track forces and guide fires, while testing a NOMAD ground robot; the exercise showed both strong potential for tech, and real-world limits like connectivity issues and the risk of information overload that can hinder training.
The Army plans to begin production in fiscal 2027 of the Terrestrial Layer System-Echelons Above Brigade (TLS-EAB), a long-range ground jammer whose design shifted from bespoke requirements to a commercial-first, modular approach, splitting TLS-EAB into signals intelligence and EW variants, with TLS-EW portable and platform-agnostic; airborne EW initiatives like Long-Range Airborne EW (LRAEW) on the Gray Eagle are also evolving, while Project Convergence validated prototypes and underscored the value of EW across echelons for theater operations.
The U.S. Army conducted its first overseas test of the sea-based 'Hammer of the Gods' system during the PC-C6 exercise, showing the portable electronic disruptor can blind GPS and other PNT signals used by precision weapons while linking devices to maintain a resilient communications network for troops in degraded environments.
