Arkansas officer’s life saved his fiancée as he drowned in river rescue hours after proposing
An Arkansas police officer, Fred Marsh, 24, of the Rogers Police Department, died after jumping into Missouri’s Elk River to rescue his fiancée during a canoe trip hours after proposing to her; a fellow officer and Marsh moved the woman to safety but Marsh did not resurface. He was in his first year with the department, and a GoFundMe page plus a funeral motorcade followed as his family described him as loving and devoted to others.
