PSR J0901-4046, an ultraslow radio pulsar, has been found to have an extremely high magnetic field of 30 quadrillion Gauss, making it the most magnetized radio pulsar known to date. The pulsar's ultraslow rotation implies that its surface magnetic field strength should exceed 25 quadrillion Gauss for efficient plasma multiplication generating radio emission. The extremely strong magnetic field of PSR J0901-4046 indicates that the pulsar slows down not by magnetic-dipole radiation, but rather by an electric current of about 56 megaamperes.
