Decades Later, Deep-Sea Survey Reveals Leaking Radioactive Barrels in Atlantic
A recent deep-sea expedition confirmed that thousands of radioactive waste barrels dumped in the Atlantic Ocean between 1949 and 1982 are corroding and leaking. Scientists found that while the containers are degrading, they have also become habitats for marine life. Current analysis is underway to determine if the leaked radionuclides are affecting these organisms or the broader ecosystem.
