Rivian Dips as Credits Fade, Pushing the H2 Delivery Ramp to the Test
Rivian’s stock is down about 25% year-to-date as $164 million of regulatory credits that aided first-half margins are set to vanish in H2 2026. The company must deliver roughly 42,400–47,400 vehicles in the second half to meet its 65,000–70,000 annual target, with the Normal plant’s second shift not contributing until Q4. The removal of credits is the main driver of a steeper H2 EBITDA loss, even as the R2 ramp continues and some costs improve. Autonomy+ revenue remains unproven, and investors will watch Q3 results to see if automotive gross profit turns positive without credits and whether the delivery ramp can offset the credit decline.
