Former British Army Chef Sentenced to 46 Months for Terror-Linked Weapons Hoard
Mark Broadhurst, a 28-year former British Army chef, was sentenced to 46 months in prison at Sheffield Crown Court for possessing weapons and explosives for terrorist purposes. Police discovered a stockpile of items, including a homemade cannon, crossbows, and black powder, at his home in Chesterfield and barracks in North Yorkshire. Although Broadhurst pleaded guilty to possession charges, he denied the terrorist motive, claiming he acted to impress online extremist groups. The judge ruled his actions were linked to terrorism, citing his extreme right-wing views and online communications with convicted terrorists.
