Pacifica fisherwoman survives after sneaker wave drags her into the sea
A 47-year-old Pacifica fisherwoman, Bae Cadotte, was knocked off her feet and swept about 30 feet into the Pacific by a sneaker wave near Pacifica Pier. The wave arrived without warning, but Cadotte resurfaced minutes later and was pulled ashore by nearby anglers. She was treated for hypothermia and ocean injuries and is recovering at home, highlighting the unpredictable danger of sneaker/rogue waves along Northern California’s coast.
