Sacramento woman fatally shot by stalker who evaded arrest despite active restraining order
Shalini Thakur, 38, was fatally shot in Sacramento on September 8 by Rohit Rohit, 22, who had stalked her for months. Authorities confirmed Rohit had placed an Apple AirTag on her car and violated a civil harassment restraining order in July. He fled after the shooting and was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Thakur’s mother and community members are questioning why law enforcement failed to arrest Rohit despite probable cause, while friends honor her vibrant personality.
