Dating-app scammer posed as Army major jailed for romance fraud
David Griffiths, 52, from Malvern, posed as a wealthy pilot and former Army major on dating apps to fleece two women of thousands of pounds. He pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud by misrepresentation and was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison. The victims—Joanne and Helen—urge others to beware and hope the case deters future scammers; investigations showed his claimed roles were false, and a proceeds-of-crime hearing is scheduled for 23 November.
