DLSS 5 on RTX 50: Hundreds of FPS Across Resolutions With Notable 50–60% Performance Penalty
NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 on GeForce RTX 50 GPUs is delivering hundreds of FPS in NBA 2K27 across 1080p, 1440p, and 4K (e.g., 250+ to 500+ FPS at 1080p; 260+ to 500+ FPS at 1440p; 233 to 370 FPS at 4K). The large FP8-based model runs on Tensor cores and requires multi-frame generation, which NVIDIA says imposes an overall 50–60% performance penalty on average, though optimizations since the model’s March unveil have boosted speed and quality and further updates are planned. DLSS 5 is developer-controlled and can be integrated into older titles; NBA 2K27 will feature DLSS 5 on Sept. 3.
