EA to go private in $55B leveraged buyout, ending 35-year public status
Electronic Arts will complete a $55 billion deal to go private by Aug. 4, 2026, ending its 35-year run as a publicly traded company. The acquisition by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners has cleared regulatory approvals and will keep EA's leadership in place with CEO Andrew Wilson in Redwood City, CA. The deal, the largest leveraged buyout on record, follows a turbulent period for EA that included layoffs and canceled projects, even as Battlefield 6 performed strongly and the company posted around $7.5 billion in revenue last year.
