PGA Tour unveils two-week match-play Tour Championship to crown season champion
The PGA Tour announced a two-week, match-play finale for the Tour Championship beginning in 2028: the season ends with a 72-hole stroke-play finale among the top 90 to determine who advances to the Tour Championship, the top 32 earning entry, followed by a Week 1 group stage (eight groups of four) producing 16 finalists who then play four rounds of match play in Week 2 to crown the champion; Tiger Woods welcomed the change, and more details are to be announced in 2027.
