Canberra tourist rescued after waist-deep sewage plunge in remote Australian toilet
A Canberra woman was waist-deep in sewage for three hours after the floor of a remote drop toilet collapsed at Henbury Meteorites Conservation Reserve in Central Australia. With no phone signal, her family drove to the nearest town for help while a passing worker dismantled the toilet and lowered a rope to reach her; she was winched to safety and transported to Alice Springs Hospital with minor injuries. NT WorkSafe has opened an investigation into the incident amid concerns about remote infrastructure and safety at outback tourist sites.
