Roubini Predicts UBI and Redistribution as AI Transforms Work
Top economist Nouriel Roubini argues the AI revolution will displace a large share of workers over 20–25 years, making universal basic income (ex-post) or an ex-ante form of socialism inevitable, funded by taxing AI firms; he expects GDP growth to accelerate from about 2–4% today to roughly 6% by 2040 and potentially 10% by 2050, a path he calls optimistic because machines would do most of the work.
