Bloys Warns of TV Industry 'Catastrophe' as Paramount-WBD Merger Nears Close
Casey Bloys, incoming head of the merged Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery streaming division, warned of a 'catastrophe' in the TV industry due to the bursting of the content bubble. He hinted that HBO Max and Paramount+ will likely be bundled rather than fully merged, citing the successful HBO Max-Disney bundle as a model. The Paramount Skydance-Warner Bros. Discovery merger is set to close on October 6, following the departure of Paramount+ chief Cindy Holland. Bloys emphasized that new CEO David Ellison intends to preserve HBO's prestige brand, while also warning of a 'catastrophe' in the TV industry due to the bursting of the content bubble.
