Underground Delta on Mars Extends Timeline of Planet’s Water History
NASA’s Perseverance rover, using the RIMFAX ground-penetrating radar, uncovered a much deeper, older delta beneath Jezero Crater, suggesting Mars had flowing surface water long before the present delta and extending the window for past habitability and potential biosignatures in the subsurface.
