Yemeni Government Forces Retake Ground in Taiz as Houthis Claim Strikes on Saudi Airbase
Yemeni government forces have advanced in western Taiz province after repelling a Houthi offensive, supported by airstrikes targeting Houthi positions in Mocha and Dhubab. Simultaneously, the Houthis claimed to have launched dozens of ballistic missiles and drones at King Khalid airbase in Saudi Arabia, targeting military infrastructure. These actions follow a Saudi offensive involving over 300 airstrikes in Yemen. The conflict has displaced nearly 86,000 people, with over 2,000 fleeing to Djibouti. Houthi control of strategic islands near the Bab al-Mandeb strait continues to threaten global trade routes, particularly as the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked by Iranian forces.
