AST SpaceMobile eyes ULA Vulcan for expanded satellite launches

AST SpaceMobile said it may launch some of its direct-to-device satellites on ULA’s Vulcan rocket to broaden its launch options, joining SpaceX and Blue Origin in its plans. The company still targets about 45 satellites in orbit by year’s end, but no Vulcan contract has been announced and Vulcan’s own launch backlog (plus an SRB anomaly investigation) could limit near-term availability; meanwhile, a mid-June Falcon 9 launch for AST’s BlueBirds 8–10 is planned as New Glenn launches remain paused following the recent failure.

"Setback for Lunar Lander: Critical Fuel Loss on Route to Moon"

United Launch Alliance's new Vulcan rocket successfully launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, carrying the Peregrine robotic lunar lander to its planned moon landing on Feb. 23. The mission marks the debut of NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services program, aiming to partner with private companies for lunar missions. The launch also carries cremated human remains and DNA, sparking controversy with the Navajo Nation expressing concerns about the sacredness of the moon. Astrobotic's Peregrine lunar lander, part of the mission, aims to pave the way for regular commercial lunar deliveries to the moon's surface.
