Hyundai and Posco break ground on $5.8B Louisiana steel mill to anchor US auto supply chain
Hyundai Steel and Posco have broken ground on a $5.8 billion integrated steel mill in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. The facility, slated for commercial production in 2029, will produce 2.7 million metric tons of steel annually, primarily for automotive use. The project represents the first North American steel production base for Hyundai Steel and is a cornerstone of the group’s $26 billion US investment commitment through 2028.
