Capitol Attack Suspect Faces Additional Terrorism Charges Over Pipe Bombs at Party HQs
Virginia man Brian Cole Jr. was indicted on two new felony counts—attempting to use weapons of mass destruction and terrorism while armed—for placing two functional pipe bombs outside the DNC and RNC buildings the night before the January 6 Capitol attack. He previously faced charges for transporting and positioning the devices and remains jailed after a court found he posed an intolerable risk to the community. Investigators say he acted to protest the election results and targeted both parties, though he claimed he did not intend to attack the joint session.
