Boeing Faces Lawsuit for Alleged Theft of NASA Rocket Tools and IP

Wilson Aerospace is suing Boeing for allegedly stealing its intellectual property, specifically a tool called Fluid Fitting Torque Device-3, which is used to attach four main engines to the Space Launch System rocket. Boeing had reached out to Wilson in 2014 to use the tool, but Wilson claims that Boeing used information from a demonstration to work with Wilson's competitors to develop a cheaper solution. Wilson Aerospace seeks a jury trial and punitive damages for what it claims as theft of its property.

Lawsuit accuses Boeing of IP theft and tool counterfeiting for NASA projects.

Wilson Aerospace, a small tools company, is suing Boeing for allegedly stealing intellectual property related to custom-designed tools used for NASA projects, including the International Space Station and the Space Launch Systems moon rocket. Wilson alleges that Boeing's actions have hurt the company to the tune of "hundreds of millions of dollars" and put lives at risk, including astronauts. The lawsuit includes 10 claims against Boeing, including for copyright infringement, misappropriation and theft of trade secrets, and fraud. Boeing denies the allegations and says it will defend itself in court.
