American missionary freed after nine months in Niger captivity
Kevin Rideout, an American missionary with SIM International, was kidnapped outside Niamey in October 2025 and held for nine months by unidentified captors in Niger. He has been released to U.S. officials and is in good health, with a reunion with his family expected soon; the FBI did not comment, and it remains unclear who was holding him. The case comes amid ongoing militant activity along Niger's borders.
