Oklahoma youth baseball coach receives lifetime ban after viral dugout throw
An Oklahoma youth baseball coach, Michael Ryals, was banned for life by the USSSA and his 12-year-old son suspended five years after a viral video showed the son throwing a ball into an opposing team’s dugout during a Memorial Day weekend tournament in Kansas City. Ryals says the opposing team taunted his son and that his son reached his breaking point, while others allege Ryals directed the throw. The incident did not injure anyone, and the USSSA penalties also included his son’s five-year suspension; Ryals acknowledges the situation and says he doesn’t want to be seen as the “bad guy.”
