Coast Guard halts search for missing man after fatal boat crash off Manchester-by-the-Sea

The U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search for a 37-year-old man missing after a recreational vessel crashed near Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts, on October 3, 2026. The incident, which occurred around 4:30 p.m., involved a 30-foot fishing boat that lost control and hit rocks, ejecting three men and a dog into the water. While two men and the dog were recovered, one man died, another is in critical condition, and the third remains missing. The search, which involved multiple agencies and sonar technology, was called off on October 4 after all reasonable actions were exhausted.
