Biochemist David Liu is launching Nvelop, a company focused on developing a precise cargo system to deliver gene-editing machinery, such as CRISPR, to hard-to-reach cells and tissues in the body. Nvelop aims to solve the delivery problem that has hindered the development of CRISPR and other genetic tools as disease-altering medicines, particularly in tissues like neurons, muscle, and blood stem cells. The company has already raised $100 million in seed funding and is led by former Bluebird Bio executive Jeff Walsh.
