"Unprecedented Insights into the Human Immune System Amid Covid"

The Covid-19 pandemic provided a unique opportunity for scientists to observe and chronicle the human immune system's response to a new threat in real time, as nearly 8 billion people had effectively blank immune slates at the start of 2020. This allowed for the study of immune responses to infection and vaccination, as well as the development of hybrid immunity. Scientists were able to observe the maturation and broadening of antibodies over time, the impact of viral evolution on population immunity, and the phenomenon of imprinting. However, the window of homogeneity has closed, making it more challenging to study the effects of new viral prompts on the immune system.
