"Northern Lights May Illuminate US Skies Tonight and Tomorrow"

A geomagnetic storm caused by a coronal mass ejection from the sun is expected to bring the northern lights, or aurora borealis, to portions of the northern US on Wednesday night. The lights may be visible farther south than usual, including in states such as Oregon, Nebraska, and Virginia. The best time to view the aurora is usually within an hour or two of midnight, away from city lights. The storm is rated a G2, or "moderate" level event, and may cause disruptions to technology but is not expected to have major impacts.
