Dangerous tornado hits Appleton–Menasha region, prompting severe warnings

A dangerous, “extremely dangerous” tornado struck parts of Appleton and Menasha in northeast Wisconsin, triggering a particularly dangerous situation tornado warning—the second-highest level. The storm moved across Lake Winnebago after hitting Menasha and was visible for about 20 minutes. Power outages were reported across multiple counties, with tens of thousands suddenly without electricity, and authorities warned of potential further severe weather as storms roll through the Great Lakes region (Level 3 of 5 risk) and across Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana.
